Control Issues Made Easy
Many of my clients and students truly desire to have more control in their lives. They express this every time they get into coaching conversations with me. It may be a direct request, or a more subtle one that I pick up in our talks. Because of repeated requests, I've come up with a very easy way to explain what "control" is all about. Most of my clients appreciate hearing the explanation and I hope my sharing this with you will be no different.
Control is a very simple process to understand. It has three key components. The first component relates to knowing what you ultimately want. The second component deals with your ability to perceive reality clearly. The last component has to do with your ability to choose and take action.
The first component reflects the vision you have of the future. It is what is leading you forward. It is a clear picture, feeling, or experience of what you're projecting the outcome to be. It is the desired results and consequences of well-coordinated choices and actions. In "Stephen Covey" terms, it is your "end-in-mind."
