Beginnings
I came into a workshop one day about five minutes late from its scheduled start time. Ironically, this is not a good thing to do when the topic of discussion is "Time Management." Not realizing the humor, I was immediately greeted with my embarrassment by the facilitator. He stopped what he was saying to the group and said . . . LOUDLY and drawn out . . . "HELLOOO SON! Glad you could make it. What's your name?"
I froze on the spot, experiencing in full what I had heard about deer being caught in headlights. Nervously I responded with my name followed by a very shaky "sir.' He smiled as a hungered man being served a two- pound sirloin steak with all the trimmings. "Son, we're just finishing up some warm-up exercises and if the group wouldn't mind, I'd like to include you in it just to wrap it up." He motioned to the group for approval and everyone in the group responded with an affirmative din. He turned back fully to me and said "We were all sharing our very most SPECIAL fantasies, just before you came in and before we can move to the next lesson you'll share yours, with us."
