The Waving and Shaking Business

I've known some very good sales people who, despite their tremendous ability to sell, fail quite successfully. It's not because of their inability to sell. It's not because of their personality or even their personal hygiene. It's because of one critical ingredient in their sales setup that prevents the deal in the very beginning.

What's the coach talking about here? Glad you asked . . .

Let me go for broke on this and ask you the following question: Do you know the difference between selling and marketing?

Now take a moment on this if you would. Earnestly reflect on it rather than continue to read. Take the time to define the two separately truly and distinctly. Challenge yourself to write it down. Is your description clear enough for another human being to say, "You know, you really did capture the difference here?" Can you write it down for them to know what is the main difference?

If your answer is "yes" and you really do know the difference, the rest of this writing may be either an affirmation or an affront to your sharing. I say this based on experience. Many people claim they know and some actually do. I may fall into one of these categories myself. The truth is, I've got my own spin on this and hence, this writing was produced.

So let's explore it and have some fun.
